Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 1 Corinthians 13:4-6
In this passage from Paul’s first letter to the church at Corinth he shares what love is, and is not. Arrogance and rudeness are two things Paul says love is not. Yet for some reason many have no problem being arrogant and rude toward others.
Arrogance and rudeness are not fruit of the Spirit. They are the fruit of a sinful heart. They are sinful behaviors. They are unacceptable in the household of God. Exhibiting such behavior is damaging to others. It must not be this way among believers.
As disciples of Jesus the Christ we must check our ego’s. There is no room for arrogance and rudeness in the life of a disciple. If we truly see who Jesus is and what He has done for us we should be humbled and know our place.
We should follow in HIS footsteps and love others more than ourselves and honor them above ourselves. Putting the needs of others ahead of our own. That is love. Jesus showed us the WAY, let’s follow it.
