“Words you never want to hear”

Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Matthew 7:23

These are the words Jesus will use on false disciples, those that claimed His name but didn’t follow Him. These are words you never want to hear from Jesus. To hear them, means you never really followed Him. What a horrifying experience that would be. To be told by Jesus… “I never knew you”,

The harsh reality is, that not everyone that claims the name of Jesus will be where he is. This is a reality that all believers must take seriously. Simply claiming to be a Christ follower does not make us one. To be His follower, is to follow in His footsteps and live out His teachings. It is to be His disciple. A true disciple.

We must learn from Him, and obey Him if we are to be true disciples. Every aspect of our lives must reflect His. It behooves us to learn of His teachings in the Gospels, as well as the teachings of His apostles to the early church. When we learn and grow in His teachings, and the teachings of His apostles we are on the way to being where He is, and we won’t have to fear hearing… “I never knew you”. He will knows us, because we will know HIM!
