For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
2 Corinthians 5:10
I heard someone make a statement about this verse the other day that bothered me. He said that even though we will be judged, we (christians) will get a pass. Interesting, because that is not what the apostle Paul says. This person said as Christians we won’t be judged like others. Again that is not what Paul said.
Paul said “all” must appear to be judged, to receive their due for their deeds. The word “all” doesn’t leave room for exceptions. We all will be judged for what we have done in this life whether good or bad. Paul didn’t say anyone would get a pass.
Christ will judge whether or not we have been faithful disciples while we were here. We are not the judge of that. We don’t get a pass simply because we call on HIS name. Jesus made this clear; “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
We all will be judged.
