Woe to those who call evil good and good evil
We live in a time when people are living this verse out, calling good evil and evil good. Today many take bible teaching as a moral affront. They are truly offended when the bible is quoted to point out the folly of their ways. Those that disagree with Judeo Christian teaching believe themselves to morally superior to those that believe in it. In their intellectual and “moral” superiority they have dismissed common sense outright.
It is believed by many today that most, if not all things that were once considered immoral or depraved should be accepted and lauded. It has gone to the extreme of being called hate speech if one speaks against these things. Phil Robertson shared this common sense response to one of the most recent hot button moral issues; “I’ve got a radical idea, men should use the men’s bathroom and women should use the women’s bathroom. Just because a man may ‘feel’ like a woman doesn’t mean he should be able to share a bathroom with my daughter, or yours. That used to be called common sense. Now it’s called bigoted.” Of course he has been attacked for stating the obvious.
I remember back to when I was a very young boy, long before “family restrooms. When I was out with my mother and would need the facilities she would take me into the ladies room to take care of business. Even at that very young age I knew I was some place where I should not be. I knew I was male and should not be in the restroom for females. If a young child knows this, it then stands to reason that an adult would. Ah, but there is the problem. Reason has gone out the window.
Grown men and women today seem to have lost the ability to reason out what is right and what is wrong. It truly is a sad state of affairs when adults have either lost the ability to reason, or flat out refuse to be reasonable in their choices and beliefs. Proverbs 14:12 says this; There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. This passage says it all. Man’s wisdom is faulted, and it leads to death. Spiritual and moral death and decay.
Whether the world knows it or not, it needs the Bible and it teachings more than ever. We who are the people of the book, must continue to teach what it teaches, and preach what it preaches. Now is not the time to live in fear, but to be courageous in HIM! But as Peter said; “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.” It must be done in gentleness and with respect.
