Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 ESV
I don’t know about you, but I love to be reminded about the Good News about Jesus the Christ. I need to remember what I have received, what I stand on, and by what I am being saved. I don’t want my belief to be in vain. I want my faith to produce fruit in my life. I want to live in Jesus.
The fact that the death, burial and resurrection were in God’s plan to save mankind gives me great hope for a future in heaven eternally. I live every day in that hope knowing it is a know so hope, not a hope so hope. My salvation is assured.
Satan may try to dissuade me of that truth, but I will trust in God for my place in heaven. He may try use every tool at his disposal, but I will not relent. Peter said this about our adversary; Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 ESV Satan wants to consume us and will use any way possible to do that. But there is a sure way to defend against his offensive attacks.
James said in his letter to the church; Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Resisting the devil by submitting to God is all we have to do. When we truly submit to God and his ways satan will run the other way, because he has no hope of getting us.
So today, I will trust in the Good news, submit to God and resist the devil. How about you?
