I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service,
1 Timothy 1:12 (ESV)
As I read this verse this morning, I thought this verse sums up how I feel. I am thankful for the strength the Jesus gives me, and that he has judged me faithful and appointed me to his service. In Christ I have been appointed to service. What a privilege that is, to serve the one that served me by dying on the cross for my sins.
I find strength in Jesus example of servanthood, just as Paul did. He served his Father, he served strangers, he served friends, he served enemies, and ultimately served all of humanity. When I read Paul’s words I know that I too can lead a life of servanthood. I know that God can take the life of a sinful man and use it to His glory.
If we are in Jesus, we have been appointed to his service. We must look to Jesus for the example, for the strength to commit to that service. Our lives are to be modeled after his. We too should serve our Father, serve strangers, serve friends, serve our enemies and humanity at large.
Let’s be thankful for the strength that Christ Jesus provides to us, his servants. Let’s be thankful that he has judged us faithful in his appointment of us to his service. Because, just as the Apostle Paul’s life affected a multitude of other live’s, our live’s can and will too if we give ourselves to his service.
