I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1-2 (ESV)
David knew where his help came from. He knew that he couldn’t count on himself or others when he was in need of help. He counted on the Lord, after all he created the heavens and the earth. Is there anyone else with such qualifications to go to for help?
The Lord is the source of all that is good and right. He created us, He loves us and provides for us. He has proven Himself faithful. He deserves to be the one we turn to when we need help. His resources are limitless, there is nothing that He cannot do.
When we find ourselves in the valleys of life, we need to look to the hills, the peaks of life and remember the Lord was with us in the highs, and He will be with us in the lows. He is our help.
If we call on Him, He will respond. He hears us when we call. He will always give what is best. But, if we do not seek His help we shouldn’t expect it. If we try to stand on our own, or lean on the wisdom of the world and exclude Him we will suffer for for it.
When we find ourselves in need of help let’s look around at the wonders of creation and remember He brought all of it into being for us. If He did that for us, He can handle all of our troubles.
