So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.
Acts 9:31 (ESV)
The early church was multiplying and it was because the church was a place of peace and encouragement. The reason it was like that is because the church was walking as it should. They walked in fear of the Lord and found comfort in the Holy Spirit. When the local body of believers fosters an environment like this, it will grow.
When non believers see a body of believers like those in the passage above, just like a magnet it draws them in. In a world of constant chaotic disagreement, to find a place of peace and encouragement is refreshing to those that discover a spiritually healthy body of believers.
The only way that a body of believers can be healthy is to have a healthy relationship with the Lord, and the comfort of the Holy Spirit. When that relationship is healthy, that body of believers is capable of the reproduction and nurture of new believers. All the pieces are in place for healthy growth.
Everyone of us needs to do our part, in our body of believers to foster this kind of environment for growth. When we walk as we should, others will take notice and join us on our walk. Every walk begins with a first step, take that step today and let the Lord be your guide. When you follow him you will be on the path, the path that leads us home.
Let’s walk that path today.
