The LORD is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
Psalm 103:8 (ESV)
Praise God! The psalmist understood how blessed he was by the Lord, because the Lord showed great mercy through His patience and love. The Bible shows us repeatedly that God shows infinite love and patience with His people.
God shows us over and over again that he does not act rashly toward those that are created in His image. He gives plenty of opportunity for us to repent and change our ways before He acts.
Even as the end of the Old Covenant was coming to a close John the baptist preached repentance, and Jesus preached repentance as well. Jesus spent great time and patience on the Scribes and Pharisees as he told them in so many ways to repent and follow Him.
On the day of Pentecost Peter taught repentance and baptism and encouraged his audience to save themselves from their sinful generation. Today, we too must preach the same because the day is coming when He will act for the last time and everything will cease to exist and the will be no time to repent.
“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (ESV)
In Christ we live at the corner of Mercy and Grace.
