God in the Alley (being and seeing Jesus in a broken world) is a powerful book. Greg Paul minister for Sanctuary ministries in Toronto Canada shares some amazing stories about being Jesus to, and seeing Jesus in the suffering souls around us. The stories he shares from the streets of inner city Toronto could have been taken from the pages of the Bible itself. His stories give substance to the suffering that most of us only hear about.
Paul and the staff of Sanctuary have spent years in the trenches evangelizing those that most of us drive by on a daily basis. They go to people where they are and show them the love of Jesus. In return they see Jesus in those they reach out to. While he chronicles the suffering of the inner city; it becomes obvious that wherever there are people, there is suffering and the need for Jesus.
I recommend this book to those that wonder what it really means to evangelize and how to do it. True evangelism is to bring the good news of Jesus to the lost, whomever they may be and wherever they may be. Paul’s book shows how much we all need Jesus and need to be Jesus to those we come in contact with.
